Buying tickets, step by step

  1. 1

    Find your event

    Use the search on the homepage, filter by town, category or date, or open a link an organizer shared. Each event page shows the date, venue (with Google Maps directions), prices and how many tickets are left.

    Choose your tickets

    Tap + next to each ticket type (Regular, VIP, Early bird…). You can buy up to 10 of each in one order. The total updates as you go, then tap Continue to checkout.

    Tell us where to send them

    Enter your name and email, or log in. Double-check the email address: your tickets go there. Your tickets are now held for you for 30 minutes.

    Pay

    Tap Pay. See paying with M-Pesa below for the different ways this works.

    Get your QR tickets

    As soon as the payment is confirmed you see your tickets on screen, and they arrive by email. Each person in your group gets a separate QR code.

Tip: create a free account before you buy. All your tickets then stay together under My tickets, on any device.

Paying with M-Pesa

The checkout shows which method the event uses. All of them are safe: you approve every payment on your own phone.

M-Pesa prompt

Enter your number, then type your M-Pesa PIN on the prompt that appears on your phone. Tickets arrive within seconds.

Secure payment page

You are taken to our secure partner page (Paystack). Choose M-Pesa, Airtel Money or card, pay, and you are brought back to your tickets.

Paybill or Till

Pay the organizer's Paybill or Till from the M-Pesa menu, then type the M-Pesa code (e.g. QHX7YT2ABC). The organizer confirms it and your tickets are emailed.

Did money leave your account but no ticket came? Do not pay again. Keep the M-Pesa message and contact us with your order number: call or WhatsApp 0742 380 183.

Your tickets

  • By email. The confirmation email has a private link for each ticket, plus a PDF download. Keep these links to yourself.
  • Under My tickets. If you have an account, My tickets lists upcoming and past events. Tap one to show the QR code.
  • Sharing with friends. Send each friend their own ticket link or image. Every QR code works for one person, once.
  • Reminders. Use Add to calendar on the event or ticket page so you don't forget the date.
For organizers

Selling tickets for your event

    Create your organizer account

    Sign up and choose Organizer. It takes a minute and is free.

  2. 2

    Create the event

    From your dashboard choose Create event. Add a clear title, the poster (a square image works best), description, start and end time, venue and town. A good poster and an exact venue sell more tickets.

  3. 3

    Add ticket types

    For example Early bird (limited, cheaper), Regular and VIP. Set the price and how many of each are on sale. When a type sells out it closes on its own.

    Choose how you get paid

    Let Hamasta collect payments for you, or collect into your own Paybill, Till or phone. See payments & fees.

    Publish and share

    Once published, your event appears on the homepage and gets its own link. Share it on WhatsApp, Instagram, X and Facebook with the share buttons on the event page.

    Watch sales come in

    Your dashboard shows tickets sold and money collected live, and you get an email for every sale. The attendee list shows every buyer.

Your own Paybill / Till / phone

One-time 2% of expected revenue (minimum KES 200)

Confirm manual payments quickly. Buyers wait for your approval before they get their tickets. Check new codes in your dashboard several times a day, especially close to the event.
At the gate

Checking guests in

  1. 1

    Open Check-in on a phone

    Log in as the organizer and open Check-in. Allow camera access. Several staff can scan at once on different phones.

  2. 2

    Scan each QR code

    Green means valid: you see the guest's name and ticket type. The ticket is marked as used at the same moment.

  3. 3

    Handle problems

    Red means the ticket was already scanned or is not valid for this event. If a screen is cracked or dim, type the ticket code by hand under Manual entry.

Before doors open: charge the scanning phones, check mobile data, and turn screen brightness up. Ask guests to have their QR code ready to speed up the queue.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to buy tickets?

No. You can check out as a guest with your name and email. Your tickets are emailed with private links. With a free account, all your tickets also stay under My tickets.

How do I pay?

With M-Pesa. Depending on the event, you either get a payment prompt on your phone (enter your PIN), or you pay the organizer's Paybill or Till and type in the M-Pesa code. Some events also accept cards and Airtel Money through our secure payment page.

I paid but did not get my ticket. What now?

Open the link in your confirmation email, or My tickets if you have an account. If you paid with a Paybill or Till code, the organizer confirms it first; you get an email as soon as they do. Still stuck? Call or WhatsApp 0742 380 183 with your order number and M-Pesa message.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No. Show the QR code on your phone at the gate. You can also download it as a PDF or image, or print it if you prefer.

Can I buy tickets for friends?

Yes. Pick several tickets in one order. Each ticket has its own QR code, so you can forward the ticket links or images to your friends.

Can someone copy my QR code?

Each code works once. The first scan at the gate marks it as used, so keep your ticket links private and do not post them online.

How long are tickets held while I pay?

Your tickets are reserved for 30 minutes after you start checkout. If the payment is not finished, they go back on sale for other fans.

What about refunds?

Each event sets its own refund policy. Contact the organizer first; we help if there is a problem with the payment itself.

How much does it cost to sell tickets?

Creating an account and listing an event is free. If Hamasta collects the payments for you, a 1.8% service fee is deducted from each ticket sold, with nothing to pay upfront. If you collect money into your own Paybill, Till or phone, there is instead a one-time publishing fee of 2% of expected ticket revenue (minimum KES 200). Buyers pay the ticket price only.

How do organizers check people in?

Open Check-in in your dashboard on any phone with a camera and scan each ticket. You see the guest's name and ticket type instantly, and duplicate scans are refused. You can also type a ticket code by hand.
